Alternative Ways of Making Extra Wedding Day Cash

For those of us who have gone from the proposal stage of the wedding process to the actual planning of the most special day of our lives, the reality of how hard this day will hit our pockets has well and truly hit home. For myself and my husband to be every extra penny that has not gone on essentials is going towards our wedding fund for dresses, venue, wedding cakes and we have taken to several other methods of raising funds as well. Here is a list of some of the things that we are trying, and succeeding with, to bolster our wedding day cash fund.

  • Getting a second job

Both my husband to be and I have full time jobs that bring in all of the money for the essentials needed to live as well as funds for our wedding day fund, but we both have other marketable skills that allow us to earn extra money on a freelance basis with second, and part time, roles. I search sites such as Freelancer.com and PeoplePerHour.com for freelance creative or writing roles, while my fiancé takes local jobs as a handy man working on people’s houses and on their vehicles too, utilising his skills as a mechanic. The work is not always consistent, but with every cent earned going into the pot this work is a perfect way to boost your wedding day fund.

  • Hold a yard sale

Yard sales are great ways of making money from the things at any stage of the year, but they are especially effective when you have a wedding coming up. The yard sale can be used to clear the house of the things have you’ve both collected over the years that you have no use for as well as symbolising a new start of a life together as you make space in your house. On top of this, you are sure to receive gifts of items or cash at your wedding from the guests so you can use a yard sale as a reason to redecorate your house too. That’s what we’ve recently done as we’ve made space for the gifts that are expected to be received at the ceremony while adding to our wedding day spends. To do this you can use websites like Craiglist and Gumtree.

  • Online bingo

This is both a relaxation tool for myself, while my husband to be engrosses himself in sports, and a way to make money for our wedding day. The planning and organising of a wedding is even more stressful and tiring than people make out and in order to wind down after a long day I enjoy nothing more than to pour a glass of wine to drink as I sit and have a go at some games at Butlers as the stresses of the day disappear. As well as this, the bingo site that I play on most regularly has a sign up bonus and reload bonuses for depositing funds as well as tournaments that you can win real cash without a buyin, so they are basically giving away free money! A few wins at the bingo tables on top of this has seen my favourite pass time help give us an even better wedding day too!

  • Contests

There are many, many online contests that provide you the chance to win great prizes from small gadgets to toys to cars to cash and with the right amount of patience and perseverance you can claim a prize and sell it on to add to your extra cash store. The trick is to create a specific email address for this venture as there will be spam – lots of spam – and dedicate time to locating and entering as many contests with prizes as often as possible and doing so as many times as allowed. The odds will swing in your favour and you will claim some prizes and we have already won a week’s vacation and a car as well as many other smaller prizes, with all but the vacation being converted into more cash!
