Thank you again for the prize! This was a great idea...you should try it again.

I have found (through repeated trial and error) that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. My husband is a certified personal trainer, and he has worked with me for a couple of years to lose weight through exercise with no luck (the more I worked out, the more I was hungry and ate). Once I started concentrating on my diet, the weight came off.

Keep trying and thanks again!

For me he was part of the family of eurobloggers, and although this was just one part of what he was and what he did, I will remember him as one of the founders of the growing euroblogosphere – and I hope others will do so, too.

It is definitely a lifestyle change mindset. I just started tracking my calories and working out again and man oh man it gets tougher the longer you go!

I just keep telling myself I can eat what I want, but just less or a variation of it. Moderation, right? :)

Thank God you have the money! Medical debt is scary! I have a good girlfriend who has no health insurance and is pregnant with her second child. I know that the state takes care of you and your baby in the short term, but long term healthcare is the goal. Healthcare and doctors are so expensive. It's a wonder that anyone an afford insurance or a doctor's visit with or without insurance!

I would say that dipping into the insurance fund for medical reasons is totally ok. I would also agree with you that Eric should never play a contact sport again! Haha... but seriously.... :)

My husband lost 20 lbs doing P90X2 for 90 days. He made it seem easy somehow (just gotta hate him for that!!) but it's not. It is a lifestyle change. You can lose weight by just fixing your diet but you can't lose weight with just exercise; so it really is all about the food. One binge can erase weeks of hard work so you have to be consistent. You will get there! Just keep trying.

As long as you enjoy the exercise you're getting and accepting of your body, weight doesn't matter. Being "fit" has such a skewed connotation and there's no one miracle food or workout that will make everyone's body perfect. I'm encouraged by your motivation to complete the half marathon and pursue a healthy lifestyle!

You may want to double check that those other bills were actually submitted to your insurance company. Many times they are not. Also, if you haven't paid them yet, you can usually negotiate the cost of the bill with the company.

I hate, hate, hate spending money from savings, especially from our emergency fund. I love having an emergency fund for the piece of mind, but spending it hurts. I recognize that the point of savings is so you have money when you need it (or wantit, depending on your goal), but I hate seeing my accounts looking so much skimpier after.

I definitely recommend the "separate account" approach for the emergency fund. It makes it much easier to be able to set a line below which the emergency fund account cannot fall. I've been guilty of having too many savings accounts (ING Direct is so awesome), but I would never have less than two, even if they were just labled "Emergency" and "General."
