Don’t ImpulseSpend, ImpulseSave instead!

I have been staff writing for ImpulseSave since December. They are a great company looking to make some great changes in the spending habits of Americans. Today, I am giving all Newlyweds on a Budget readers the opportunity to take part in this incredible app. I was not compensated in any way for publicizing this company.

What is ImpulseSave?

ImpulseSave’s goal is to make saving as easy, fun and rewarding as spending.

Instead of impulse spending, you “ImpulseSave” into a savings account instead! Craving a $5 Starbucks? Put it into your account instead. Thinking of buying those $150 boots? Put it toward your vacation fund instead! Don’t make that $2 impulse purchase at the grocery line? Put those $2 toward paying off your debt!

Stats and Facts:

Is ImpulseSave Safe?

  • ImpulseSave employs the same high-grade encryption used by financial institutions and government agencies.  All your financial information is encrypted in transit, and in storage.
  • Meet or exceed all industry standards to safeguard your data.
  • Your money is held in your new FDIC insured savings account.

The short answer: Yes. The long answer: They are built like Fort Knox. Your financial information is so secure that even their own servers can’t read it.

ImpulseSave Features:

  • Specific Goals: instead of a nebulous “emergency fund” now you can save towards your vacation, a wedding or your kids education separately in one savings account!
  • ImpulseSave: You can impulseSave via SMS text, via Instagram, on the ImpulseSave site and soon via iPhone App
  • Autosave: Weekly autosaves ensure that you’re ALWAYS making progress towards your goals, even if it’s only $5 a week (less than $1 a day)
  • Success Driven: We send you weekly updates on your goal progress and encourage you every time you make a save!
  • Socialize: Comment on a funny save, encourage those who are making good decisions – be inspired to save yourself!

What can you do with ImpulseSave?

Go On Vacation!

Jessica works hard and knows she deserves a vacation. But this year, instead of putting it on the credit card, she’s going to Paris with the cold hard cash she saved in her ImpulseSave account!

Kill Credit Card Debt!

Brad LOVES the autosave feature because it ensures that no matter what this month brings, he’ll pay off his balance.

Plan a Wedding!

Christine and Torey ImpulseSave for their wedding. No matter what they’re doing – whether they’re grocery shopping, or cake testing, they can make sure they’re prepared for the Big Day!

What Do ImpulseSavers Say About ImpulseSave?

Below are real quotes from real users taken from Facebook Twitter and the ImpulseSave site.

Wow this is so cool! Thanks for sharing! We have a cash budget, the envelope system, if you will, or I’d totally use it!

I saw this too, but it doesn’t seem like something I need — it seems like just another thing to track!

I read about this when I wrote about impulse spending. Great idea in theory but the biggest hurdle for any financial mobile application is security. People generally do not trust these applications. I wrote an article about digital wallets, which are more secure than the traditional credit card transactions, but people just don’t trust them.

Hi Paul! Thanks for your comment and insight about trust. It is a big deal to gain the trust of your users, especially when dealing witha mobile app (in development now) and something we take really seriously. 50% of our development team is devoted to ensuring the security of our users. That being said we certainly LOVE our early adopters for taking a leap of faith and trusting our product to be as secure as we promise – and we won’t let them down!

Jai your words are SO encouraging!! And as far as your recurring theme we’ve found our users to be predominantly female as well which we think is FABULOUS! If you have any specific comments or feedback about the product, you can always email me at alysa@impulsesave.com – and thanks to Erika for spreading the word!

I’ve heard of impulse save but I’ve never checked it out until today. I’m not sure it would be particularly helpful to me, since I pay myself first and don’t do a lot of random shopping, but I’ll look into it anyway, anything that helps save some extra cash for debt repayment is fine by me. 🙂

I really love the idea behind ImpulseSave (I’ve written about it here) – do you know whether there are any plans to move it to the UK? Or, if some aspiring individual wanted to help take it to the UK, how would I/they go about doing that?

Hi Frugal City Girl! I would LOVE to talk to you about brining this to savers in the UK! The process would be lengthy, but not impossible. We definitely plan to bring this to the UK and beyond but collaborating together on how to do that would help to decrease the time. For more information on how we might go about this you can email me at alysa@impulsesave.com! Excited to get in touch!!
