fertility tips, fertility options, taking care of your fertility

Thanks to Fertility Planit for sponsoring this post and giving me a Clearblue® Fertility Monitor. While I have received compensation for this post, all opinions are my own.

For the past several weeks, I have been using the Clearblue® Fertility Monitor, graciously gifted to us by Fertility Planit, to track my fertility.

The Fertility Monitor with Touch Screen is an advanced fertility tracker that tracks two key fertility hormones. While most fertility kits only track one hormone, the Clearblue®            Fertility Monitor tracks two: luteinizing hormone and estrogen. These two key fertility hormones help the device pinpoint your two peak fertility days, plus additional high fertility days prior to ovulation.

Once you’ve ovulated, then comes the harrowing two-week-wait. Anyone who has ever tried to conceive knows how nerve-wracking the TWW can be. The two-week-wait is essentially the waiting period from the time of ovulation until a pregnancy test will show whether you’ve conceived or not. It generally takes about two weeks for conception and implantation to occur and for the HCG hormone to appear in your body, which is then detected by at-home pregnancy tests.

The TWW is never fun. There’s a part of you that wants to test every day; there’s another part of you that wants to hold out for as long as possible in order to avoid disappointment and to keep from driving yourself crazy. Ideally, it is best to wait until the day or day after your missed period.

I will say that this time, I was slightly less concerned about the TWW because I felt much more in control thanks to the knowledge the Fertility Monitor gives me. While we didn’t conceive this time, I still feel much more pro-active about our fertility. Having irregular cycles really makes it difficult to plan out conception, and with the Fertility Monitor I feel like the playing field has been leveled in that I now have the same chances as someone with a normal cycle.

We definitely plan to continue to use the monitor as it has really been the only tool that has helped in giving me knowledge. Temperature charting was always so confusing, time consuming, and inaccurate for me. I need something as easy as this monitor to just let me figure it out.

It was the Fertility Monitor’s first month figuring out my irregular cycle. I am confident that with a bit more history on me, the monitor will be better able to pinpoint my ovulation days. I look forward to continue using the monitor and hopefully having our own little bundle of joy at some point.

Luckily, we are in no rush and we still have plenty of time to try.

Overall, I would highly recommend the monitor to anyone who has been trying to conceive and having difficulty. The monitor is a great way to feel like you have some control over your fertility and helps put the power back in your hands. Just for that reason alone, I find it worth the expense.
