How Logistics Companies are Using Vehicle Tracking to Improve Productivity from the Desk

Technology is constantly being enhanced and adapted for the workplace in order to make our lives more efficient and stress-free. There’s simply no end to the changes that technology can provide to the modern office, and one of the biggest improvements over the years has to do with the logistics industry. This is because of something called company fleet tracking, which means that business owners can manage their employees wherever they are in the world, from the comfort of their own desks.

Are you worried about what you would do in case a member of your mobile workforce was involved in an accident? Or are you concerned how you would cope if one of your vehicles was the subject of theft? Now those issues can be a thing of the past, all thanks to dedicated vehicle tracking that keeps a close eye on things at all times. Accurate data regarding the location of your vehicles can be sent back to you directly, so if the worst should happen you’ll be able to provide a quick response.

Of course, this functionality also means that you can improve productivity and profits. This is because the data can also be used to show you where your vehicles are as they are on the job, and real-time information can be sent back to give you an insight into how things are going. The details are then collated into an easily manageable database so you can work to improve driving behaviour and the success of your business. Vehicle tracking has been a massive boon to the logistics industry and expect them to find even more ways to gather and analyse this data in the future.

With the sophistication of vehicle tracking, companies can tell where their employees are at all times. Some superior systems will also allow you in-vehicle two way communication, and allow you to track purely business mileage instead of personal as well. There’s no reason why a logistics company shouldn’t be taking advantage of this technology, and there will surely be an improvement in productivity once it is fully incorporated into your business.

When a management team needs to know where their mobile workforce is then vehicle tracking provides the answer, and it will even give you added information that could prove useful in the future. This includes the speed at which your drivers are going when they’re on the job, and how long they are taking between deliveries or stop-offs. There’s no doubt that this is a real benefit to logistical businesses and as the technology evolves there will soon be even more ways to manage your mobile employees from the desk.

Traditional BI platforms have come a long way over the past decade. In the past, they used to glean intelligence from a relatively small subset of data overseen by specialists who were the only ones who could access and interpret the information. The business would ask a question and the specialist would get back to them a few days later with a response.

It’s all very well to compile lists of important data points or use spreadsheets to organize and make sense of data. But executives, salespeople and business users demand instant insight, and that is being provided more and more by visualization tools. Increasingly, these offer a wide range of ways to view information.

Data tends to be spread around, trapped in various silos. The latest wave of BI tools is attempting to remove the barriers between those silos so that a holistic picture is formed based on multiple data sources. This provides much more accurate forecasts.

At present vehicle tracking is a must. This day is not so far when we will see lots of car without driver. We always look for safety, increase productivity, lower Operational Costs, minimize fuel cost and want to get rid of thieves. In that case a GPS Vehicle Tracking device can help us most..
