We’re newlyweds and we’re broke. But not broke-broke like can’t-afford-food-or-rent kinda broke but just broke like can’t-get-my-monthly-mani-pedi broke or can’t-go-out-to-eat-more-than-once-a-week kinda broke.
This is our attempt to maneuver newlywed life while trying to budget our spending.
A little bit about us
I am a 26-year-old public relations professional and Eric is an EMT. We live in southern California with our dog, B. We big homebodies who’s idea of a fantastic date involves wine, Netflix, pizza and homemade cookies (and by homemade, I mean Pillsbury refrigerated cookie-dough). We love to travel–a big problem when you’re on a very tight budget, but we find creative ways.
Did I mention our names are Eric and Erika? Yup, it never gets old ; )
How we met
Erika had a blog. Eric found it on Google in November. He emailed her. They became friends. Started dating in January. Four months later, on April 2, 2010, they were married. (No, she wasn’t pregnant).
Why this blog
Well, my blog started out as a relationship and dating blog and quickly turned into an “I’m getting married!” blog. It was time to start fresh. I wanted to be more open and connect with others who are also trying to start their own little families while learning how to manage a budget and trying to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle as well.
Eco-friendly, organic and budget are not commonly used in the same sentence, but this is our attempt to make it work. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
